A Golf Genius Alternative for Charity Scrambles

A once-a-year fundraiser does not need the same system as a club's competitive tournament calendar. Choose around the format you actually run.

The short answer

PinPals is an alternative to evaluate for charity scrambles that need registration, sponsors, fundraising, pairings, and mobile live scoring. It is not a replacement for Golf Genius's specialist competition and handicap capabilities. If GHIN, flights, or complex competitive formats are required, evaluate Golf Genius against those requirements.

Setup, payments, and the right fit

A free starting plan is not a complete cost comparison. Verify the current plan, transaction charges, and required extras with each vendor.

Golf tournament software setup, payment costs, and use cases
Platform	Setup or plan	Payment costs to compare	Best fit to evaluate
PinPals	$0 setup with online payments enabled	4% + $0.30 per card checkout, processing included	Charity outings and scrambles that want a built-for-you Tournament Hub
Golf Genius	TM Club $1,425/year; TM Premium $4,275/year for up to 36 holes	Confirm registration, payments, and onboarding in your quote	Clubs and associations with competitive formats and handicap requirements

PinPals does not claim to be cheapest for every event. Large outings may benefit from a flat-fee model. Offline-only PinPals events without Stripe require a separate quote.

Charity outing or competitive championship?

PinPals focuses on golf outings and scrambles: a branded Tournament Hub, team registrations, sponsor packages, add-ons, auctions, and donations. Our team builds the page for you.

Golf Genius focuses on tournament administration for facilities and associations, including advanced competitive requirements. Confirm the subscription tier and integrations needed for your specific formats before comparing it with an outing platform.

Live scoring is included. GHIN is not.

PinPals teams can enter scores hole by hole on their phones, and players or spectators can follow a live leaderboard. Hosts manage teams and starting-hole assignments and print cart signs.

PinPals does not integrate with USGA GHIN. If your competition relies on official handicap indexes or specialist scoring rules, that limitation matters more than a lower software price.

Keep fundraising and golfer logistics together

For charity outings, PinPals combines registrations, tiered sponsors, shop add-ons, donations, and recorded auction payments in revenue reports and exports. Volunteer tools support check-in and day-of sales.

Setup is free with online payments enabled, with no paid feature tiers. Standard online card checkouts carry 4% + $0.30 with processing included. Organizer-direct offline payments carry no PinPals transaction fee.
